Yamamoto Product Line Presentation
By Russ Bassdozer

December 14, 2003

Welcome to the world of fishing, Yamamoto style! We are proud to present you with these features and tips for our quality fishing product line.

For years our baits were sought after for their custom designs, lifelike translucent colors, incredibly soft consistency, and patented salt-laden formulation - but they were a secret known only among a select group of top fishermen, tournament pros who refused to settle for less. Our products remained a secret until you discovered them, and succeeded with them. We thank you.

If our products are new for you, or if you are new to fishing, don't be dismayed by the number of styles, sizes, product codes and colors - we are here to help you. Our goal is to provide you with the information necessary to make your fishing time more enjoyable, and more productive. - Gary Yamamoto

YAMAMOTO SENKOS

The Senko's success is a decade long story. The original was prototyped by Gary Yamamoto in 1993 and refined and perfected until the Senko's initial public offering in 1997. Yet it was not until 2000 that the Senko first began to catch the attention of tournament anglers in California. From there, the Senko's success slowly rolled eastward across the mighty Mississippi. Fast forward to today when the Senko is proclaimed to be the hottest "new" lure to hit the water - ten years after its inception! So don't wait a minute longer to add the Yamamoto Senko to your repertoire.

  1. 3" Senko (9C series)
The 3" mimics a typical crawdad, tiny shad or immature panfish. It's the perfect food profile for hungry bass. Use weightless or wacky with Yamamoto's 53-series hook, get that spiral jig fall on Yamamoto's 42-series round head, or rig it any way you like. There's no speed limit for how fast you can fill the livewell with the 9C Senko! More...

  2. 4" Senko (9S series)
The 4" 9S Yamamoto Senko is not magic, but it's close. This is the favored size on many smaller natural lakes and ponds as opposed to the larger man-made impoundments. It is a killer throughout the Northeast and North Central states where feisty Northern strain bass populations do not grow as large as the Florida strain found across the South, Texas, Mexico and the West. It's one of the most productive bass lures in the world. Bass can hardly resist the Senko's unique horizontal fall when fished weightless or wacky style. Not only does the Senko have incredible fish-catching action, but it casts like a bullet and gets into the strike zone quickly. Yamamoto Senko...say no more!

  3. 5" Senko (9 series)
The 5" 9-series Senko is one of the most productive bass lures ever invented, and the top producer among Yamamoto's many models of Senkos. It's not magic, but it's close. Not only does the Senko have incredible fish-catching action, but it casts like a bullet and gets into the strike zone quickly. Bass can hardly resist the Senko's unique horizontal fall when fished weightless or wacky style. Texas bullet rig? Carolina rig? Florida screw-in rig? Mojo rig? The answer's simply Senko. The secret is it is so incredibly easy for them to eat, bass don't think twice to bite it and won't let go. Say Yamamoto Senko...and say no more!

  4. 6" Senko (9L series)
The 6" 9L Senko (color 187) rigged weightless produced an amazing 10.27 lbs. world record spotted bass for California angler Bryan Shishido. More...

  5. 7" Senko (9X series)
The 7" 9X is the giant among the Yamamoto Senko product line. There's not a big bass out there that wouldn't love to whack a 9X. Why deprive them? Weightless, it can get down fast in the productive depths than most bank beaters bypass, and the 9X makes a great night fishing bait... that is, if you're not afraid to battle scary monsters in the dark. In the November 1999 Missouri Bassmaster Invitational on Lake of the Ozarks, Gary Yamamoto placed 13th fishing deepwater docks and deep main channel points using the 9X Senko. He simply let the unweighted lure fall to the bottom to imitate larger deepwater baitfish that inhabit such locations.

  6. 3" Slim Senko (9B series)
The 3" 9B is a computer-generated miniature version of the Yamamoto Senko, one of the most popular soft plastic hits of all time. The 9B is created for finesse fishing, drop shot, or to catch the eye of wary stream trout, slab-sided crappie and farm pond panfish. Whenever small fish fry dimple the calm surface, wake the 9B through them weightless with ultralight tackle, and amaze your friends! The 9B measures just 3 inches. It has the same shape and salt as the original Senko - only smaller. More...

  7. 4" Slim Senko (9J series)
The 4" 9J Senko was created for Yamamoto's top tournament pros in Japan who required a smaller, slimmer Senko to excel under the most extreme pressure conditions. When you need to get the maximum action and attraction out of your drop shot, split shot or shakin' with a bead 'n bullet, it's time to slip on a 9J Slim Senko!

  8. 5" Slim Senko (9M series)
If the standard 5-inch 9-series Senko is dynamite, then the slender 5-inch 9M Senko is a loud firecracker. The 9M is custom made to compete and win in any trick worm or slender worm situation. What the 9M has that the others don't is that unique Senko characteristic of body shimmying and shifting with tip quivering action.

  9. 5" Senko Lite (9F series)
When it comes to rubbing bass the wrong way, Yamamoto's 9F Senko Lite is the ultimate rebel. Bright, bold colors give the 9F an antagonizing in-your-face attitude. The 9F Senko Lite has half the salt so you get a much slower fall rate. A special blend of buoyant soft plastic lets the 9F suspend and hover above shallow cover. It doesn't quite float but does resist sinking as it quivers enticingly on a super-slow fall. Twitch the rod tip to jerk the Senko Lite back up for another agonizing fall. Ornery bass will barrel out of the cover to crush it. More...

  10. 6" Senko Lite (9LF series)
The 9LF Senko Lite has half the salt so you get a much slower fall rate! Gary Yamamoto used the 6" 9LF-series Senko Lite in color (shown) to take 3rd place and big bass (a 9 lb 7 oz beauty) at the 2000 Bassmaster Texas Central Invitational on Sam Rayburn Reservoir. One of the best times to use the Senko Lite is as warm rising spring waters flood fresh cover, says Gary. Most of the time, he uses it as a twitching bait, and you will need to uncover whatever kind of twitching action works according to what the fish want on any given day. Gary will also deadstick it.

LAMINATES & CORE SHOTS

How do you make a good thing even better? Double it up! That's just what we've done with Yamamoto Laminates and Core Shots.

Most things bass eat are not monotones but have complex colorations, primary darker colors on top and secondary paler colors underneath. The correct term for this is countershading, and Yamamoto Laminates have got it! Yamamoto's Laminate technology is designed to swirl more of the primary color on the bait's head end and feather-blend the remaining lateral color line demarcation. This may or may not matter to a fish, still it is the way we like to make them.

All our Laminates work swell, and offer visual contrast.  What more can you say about the awesome appeal of a black/blue, black/red or watermelon/white Senko? Then there's the 913 Core Shot. It's luminous tail can light your way to a banner Senko day under low visibility conditions.

The most subtle color is 912. It combines Yamamoto's two top sellers, 297 and 194J, into one. "You can't always see the two different shades in 912" says Gary Yamamoto. "Rather than the sharp contrast provided by our other two-tones, it is the similarity of colors that appeals to bass in the 912 Senko. It's subtle and it works well." More...

Another subtle Senko color is the 914 Core Shot. With that wriggly black tail tip as it falls, 914 hardly looks extraordinary - until you fill the livewell with it. In fact, your livewell can go from empty to full real fast whichever Laminate or Core Shot you choose. So double up your presentation with a two-tone Senko today.

  1. 4" Senko Laminate (9S series)
Contrast is multi-dimensional. Most obvious in Yamamoto's Laminate is the facet of color-on-color contrast, a powerful visual demarcation. For example, green on pink as in 908 is a strong color-on-color contrast. But not as strong overall contrast as solid opaque 229 bubblegum. If you are ever on a strong 229 bubblegum bite and it starts fading? You may at times extend the waning bite by segueing into 908 to retain some desirable bubblegum contrast cut in half with the watermelon. To provide less contrast is why the 908 Laminate came into being, not to mimic a rainbow trout, although some say it does that too! More...

  2. 5" Senko Laminate (9 series)
When bass are looking up to eat (while you look down), try a 901 white- or 906 lemon-bellied Laminate rigged upside down. If your friends look at you funny, never mind. Yamamoto's pros do this often (rig upside down, not look at you funny).  The so-called belly color is highly visible, so you can watch it more intently from above as it sinks and more easily spot bass as they swim out of a bush, emerge from under a weedbed or log to grab it and swim off with it. The bass, from below, is seeing more the familiar watermelon color. Sometimes you won't see the fish at all. You'll be watching when your Laminate just disappears from view or suddenly just one or two tips are only visible as a fish swims off with it in its mouth. If the fish goes back down into the cover, let the line pull tight as you reel in, then set the hook. On the other hand, if the fish swims out into the clear, watch for it to stop to ingest it completely. Wait to see the entire Laminate disappear. Just keep a cool head. Once they grab it, they rarely spit out a Yamamoto bait. After you land a few fish like this, your friends will still look at you funny, but in a different envious way.

  3. 5" Senko Core Shot (9 series)
Core Shot technology allows one soft plastic color to be shot straight through the core of a second outer color, creating a natural two-tone effect on the tips of the Senko. More...

KAHUNA KUT-TAILS

For years the top pro anglers in the country have competed on a different playing field. They are privy to new information, new techniques and new products before they are released to the public. Many of these are kept secret as long as possible for added advantage in competition.

Now Gary Yamamoto levels the playing field with the new Kahuna Kut-Tail family in five sizes from 3-1/2 to 6-1/2 fish-catching inches. More...

The 7X Kut-Tail is ideal for lunker largemouth. The 7C is perfect for chunky smallmouth. Fish the 7X or 7C just like a Senko but with a different profile and unique vibration from that special cut tail. The mid-sized 7L hits the mark for spotted bass. The smaller 7 and 7S sizes excel for dropshot, splitshot, shakin' or finesse.

The Kahuna Kut-Tail. Rig it like a Senko. Weightless. Wacky. Dropshot. Texas Rig. Carolina rig. Mojo Rig. Jig Worm. The Kahuna Kut-Tail does it all. So don't wait too long to try it. More...

  1. 3 1/2" Kut-Tail (7S series)
When bass act finicky toward your usual finesse lures, the 3 1/2" 7S is best for ultra finesse with bass, crappie, even trout.

  2. 4" Kut-Tail (7 series)
The origin of the 4" 7-series Kut-Tail is an interesting story. Fishing in winter time, Gary Yamamoto found that bass were lethargic and did not want a full tail that wiggles on their worms. So he progressively cut back the tail design until the Kut-Tail became what you see today. During the heat of summer, he also discovered that the do-nothing nature of the Kut-Tail worked on listless bass sweltering in high water temperatures. The Kut-Tail eventually became a full product line in five sizes that are always catching something whenever bass are "doing nothing". More...

  3. 5" Kut-Tail (7L series)
Ratchet your finesse up a notch. This is not your standard 3- to 4-inch finesse worm. As Gary Yamamoto began to deploy Western dropshot tactics across the South and Central states, he observed the bigger grade of fish there required a bigger dropshot bait to motivate them. At five inches, the 7L will get you a better grade of fish on dropshot, splitshot, shaking with a bead 'n bullet, or jig-worming with Yamamoto's 42-series round head. Jig worms have long been an ace-in-the-hole for top pros. Now with the new Kahuna Kut-Tails, jig worms are back again!

  4. 5 3/4" Kut-Tail (7C series)
A 7L not big enough but the 7X to big? Here is our middle of the road, try this 5 3/4" long cut tail.

  5. 6 1/2" Kut-Tail (7X series)
Ready to cull those smaller keepers? The 7X is a bigger bait designed for better kicker fish appeal. Hefty and dense, use the 7X weightless or rig it Texas, Carolina or any way you want - it works big time. At first, one may be a little skeptical of the extra added length of the 6 1/2" 7X, but the size doesn't deter bass one bit. The 7X compares quite closely in body size to the standard 5" Senko. The extra length of the 7X is deceptive as it is only longer in the slender cut tail.

SINGLE TAIL GRUBS

The pleasant quality of life in the desert Southwest brought Gary Yamamoto to Page, Arizona some twenty years ago, where he started Gary Yamamoto Custom Baits. Attracted to the premier bass fisheries nearby, Gary began to fish and win regional tournaments on Western waters. The finesse-sized 40 and 18 series grubs were the standard Western staples then, and indeed remain our top-selling sizes worldwide. As Gary continued to climb the tournament ladder and extended his experience to top national and international fisheries, he found it necessary to design the larger grub series (2, 19, 10 and 100). These attract the bigger bass found in the Southeast, Texas and Mexico. The 19 and especially the 10 have been of most help to Gary for grubbing bigger bass and better five fish limits on Southeast and Central fisheries and in Mexico.

  1. 3" Single Tail (30 series)
The 3" 30-series single tail grub is a small scale version of Yamamoto's popular 4" 40-series grub. Same winning design, same salt impregnation, same natural oils added in the formulation...just computer-designed to be precisely 75% the size of the 40 in every proportion. What does it do? Why do you need it? First, it's an awesome smallmouth bait, particularly in streams and rivers. Second, it works well anywhere that clear water bass require light line for splitshot, dropshot, mini jigs, or mini Carolina rigs, the 30 excels at any and all finesse tactics. Third, wait till you see the size and quantity of crappie, perch, bluegill and trout this little 30 pulls out - even from under the ice!

  2. 4" Single Tail (40 series)
The 4" 40-series single tail grub will catch you incredible numbers of small to medium bass, plus the unexpected line-stripping lunker. The Yamamoto single tail grub is the universal fish-catching tool

  3. 5" Single Tail (18 series)
The 5" 18-series single tail grub is a chunky little morsel that is the perfect baitfish imitator. It is a super size for attracting keeper bass and up.

  4. 6" Single Tail (2 series)
The 6" 2-series single tail grub (known as the "stretch-40") is a stretched-out version of Yamamoto's popular 4" 40-series grub. The extra length provides plenty of room for rigging with a larger hook and a screw-in sinker.

  5. 6" Single Tail (19 series)
The wide-bodied 6" 19-series is very versatile on medium/heavy tournament grade tackle. From weightless surface swimming to deep jigging, the 19 is a favorite choice of Gary Yamamoto, who likes using the 19 for the bigger presentation it appeals to bigger. The larger tail emits a strong vibration and plenty of strike-provoking, tail-beating action.

  6. 8" Single Tail (10 series)
Gary Yamamoto used the big 8" 10-series grub to jump from 117th to 2nd place on the last day at the Bassmaster Oklahoma Central Invitational on Lake Eufaula, OK. He stunned everyone by weighing in the heaviest one day catch of the tournament on day three with a whopping 5 fish limit! The key is to use enough weight with a screw-in sinker so that the big tail paddles hard. You shouldn't catch too many dinks with this big grub!

  7. 10" Single Tail (100 series)
The 10" 100-series grub epitomizes the statement, "Big Bass, Big Bait!" This humongous hunk of grub is a great one for dark and discolored water, slithering through the worst tangled weed masses, or at night. More...

YAMAMOTO HULA GRUBS

Gary Yamamoto began using the Yamamoto Hula Grub about twenty years ago out West, where this lure style originated. Since then, Yamamoto Hula Grubs have proven successful across the country from North to South to East. Anywhere with a finesse jig or deepwater jig bite is Yamamoto Hula Grub country.

"A hula grub imitates nothing in particular but everything in general," says Gary. "Often it is just something nondescript and bulky that's moving - an easy target that bass strike. Yet at other times, depending on the color and action that an angler uses, a hula grub can give fish the impression of a craw, a panfish or a shad."

The 5" double tail (97 series) is the top seller among Yamamoto's hula grub products. The 4" sizes excel in downsized environments - ponds, streams or tanks. The 6" size (99 series) is used by big bass hunters who desire to selectively land larger-than-average bass.

  1. 4" Double Tail Yamamoto Hula Grub (93 series)
The 4" 93 series double tail hula grub is a crawdad imitator extraordinaire! In downsized environments, ponds and tanks, rig this bottom crawler with lighter weights of Yamamoto's jig heads, and toss it into any shady corner, nook or cranny you can find.

  2. 4" Single Tail Yamamoto Hula Grub (94 series)
The 4" 94-series single tail hula grub imitates nothing in particular and everything in general, says Gary Yamamoto. It is just something nondescript that's moving - an easy target that bass strike. Yet at other times, depending on the color and action that an angler uses, Yamamoto's hula grub can give fish the impression of a craw, a panfish, a shad, etc. The 35 -series swimming jig head is designed especially for use with Yamamoto's 94-series single tail hula grub, swimming and deflecting it off rocky bottoms.

  3. 5" Double Tail Yamamoto Hula Grub (97 series)
To begin a search for fish, Gary Yamamoto swims the 5" 97-series hula jig in shallows from zero to ten feet more quickly than most people, bumping along bottom almost like you'd use a big-billed crankbait. With a half-ounce jig head, moved fast in a swimming motion, he throws to the bank, and as soon as it hits bottom, starts reeling it to give it a fast action until it hits bottom again. Gary uses 16 to 20 lb. test Sugoi fluorocarbon line that has low stretch and high abrasion resistance. He's obviously not finesse fishing or using light line, but going for aggressive fish with a heavy flipping stick. If he doesn't find active fish shallow, he'll switch to an even heavier jig head without changing the bait, but switching into ten to twenty feet of water with a 5/8 or 3/4 oz jig head to search out fish that may be active at those depths. Yamamoto may go up to a one-ounce jig in water down to thirty feet deep. Just bounce bottom and reel quickly enough to keep from getting snagged while you swim the lure on a 44G or 44W football head with a wire-pronged weedguard to deter snags.

  4. 5" Single Tail Yamamoto Hula Grub (98 series)
The 5" 98-series single tail hula grub is a bulky moving target, says Gary Yamamoto. Gary likes chartreuse hula grubs to trigger bites from more active and aggressive fish in spring. As the season progresses and the sun warms the water, Yamamoto prefers pumpkin, root beer and watermelon hulas. In clear water, translucent smoke pepper colors work well for Gary.

  5. 6" Double Tail Yamamoto Hula Grub (99 series)
Where many others use the old standard rubber-skirted jig of jig-and-pig fame, Gary Yamamoto uses the big 6" 99-series double tail hula grub Texas-rigged to flip and pitch in heavy cover. He prefers to use the 99-series hula grub Texas rigged with a bullet sinker and a 5/0 round bend straight shank hook. For flipping and pitching into heavy cover where you do not have to make long casts, you'll get a better powerset by Texas rigging with the straight shank hook rather than an offset hook or jig, says Yamamoto. The 99 is a big bait, one that hawgs hounded by jig-and-piggers rarely see.

DOUBLE TAIL GRUBS & SKIRTS

Make your own custom color combos! The options are endless to mix and match our double tails and 11-series skirts. Try subtle blends (297/194J), a bit more contrast (213/017) or tap into some of Gary Yamamoto's tournament-winning shad-imitation patterns (177/031, 136/187, 135/150).

  1. 3 1/2" Skirt (11 series)
Choosing the 11-series jig skirt not only adds bulk but allows you to customize the size and color paired with a variety of Yamamoto's 4", 5" and 6" single and double-tail grubs. With so many available colors, get dialed in to the skirt and tail combinations unique to your local waters. Please don't tell anyone if you trail a 92-series Ika or pinch down a 3S Craw behind an 11-series jig skirt. Just keep that secret, okay?

  2. 4" Double Tail (15 series)
The compact 15 series makes a great light tackle smallmouth or spotted bass jig. Two tails make it twice as enticing! Use it solo on Yamamoto's 42-series light wire round jig head or in concert with our 11-series skirt on our 44-series light wire football jig.

  3. 5" Double Tail (16 series)
For medium to heavy applications, match the 5" 16-series tails, 11-series skirts and heavy wire 44G football jigs. Do not hesitate to amp up to 3/4 or 1 oz sizes in deep water - or for that fast-snapping shallow reaction bite.

  4. 6" Double Tail (12 series)
Use the 6" 12-series as a trailer on big rubber-skirted flippin' jigs. Just see if it doesn't out-produce any pork or plastic chunk you've used before. The 12's tails are designed with a special wedge at the body juncture forcing those tails to stay apart in a dinner-signaling, claw-waving commotion.

  5. 7" Double Tail (17 series)
It may surprise you, but rigged weightless and buzzing the 7" 17 series like a buzzbait causes it to plop its tails and gurgle its way across the surface, driving bass completely mad! Sharpies also use the 17-series to slow the fall of a rubber-skirted jig way down to draw any jumbo bass within easy striking distance. Topwater buzzing, flippin' jigs or trailing on a big spinnerbait or buzzbait, the 17-series can score humungous bass for you. Soon, everyone will be calling you a sharpie too!

CRAWS & LIZARDS

Whether finesse or power fishing, we've got the craws and lizards for you. Texas rig or Carolina rig the larger sizes for bigger bass on beefier tackle. Use the smaller sizes with light line finesse presentations to tempt bass on clear water fisheries. More...

The Laminate Craw and Laminate Lizard are new for 2004. Fish have not seen them yet. Shouldn't you be the first one to show them on your lake? More...

  1. 3 3/4" Craw (3S series)
Don't neglect to try our Craw's little brother. The 3 3/4" 3S-series crawdad mimics the most common size of crawfish, which is often smaller than most craw lures used by anglers. Match the hatch to improve your catch...with the 3S-series crawdad. This Craw is the perfect answer for a smaller flipping bait, either rigged solo or trailed behind a jig. The 3S Craw is small in size but huge in fish appeal!

  2. 5" Craw (3 series)
In the thickest of cover, many baits are just too bulky to make their way down through to where the lunkers hang out. That's when top Team Yamamoto pros like Gary, Roland Martin and Takahiro Omori go to the 3-series Craw. With a streamlined sinker, the pencil-thin end of the Texas-rigged Craw slips through dense cover that other baits cannot penetrate easily. As if that's not enough, some of our pros say the Yamamoto Craw is the perfect rubber-skirted jig trailer, and they have the big bass prize money to prove it too. Pinch an inch off to better match your jig size.

  3. 5" Laminate Craw (3 series)
Now get the same great 5" Craw in our top Laminate Senko colors 900, 901 and 904. New laminate color 919 is designed especially for our Laminate Craw and Laminate Lizard.

  4. 4 1/2" Lizard (13S series)
The 13S Lizard is smaller in size but lack nothing in fish catching appeal. Dynamite for early springtime pre-spawners and tempting the spookiest bed fish. And don't forget this "little brother" for a more subtle approach to Carolina-rigging in clear water or heavily pressured conditions.

  5. 7" Lizard (13 series)
13 is definitely not the 7" 13-series lizard's lucky number. Seems this unlucky lizard cannot get too close without being belted by a prespawn or spawning bass. Who knows why this is so, but bass bust lizards every spring everywhere. As the season progresses and fish move into deeper water during summer, send the unlucky 13 charging into the depths after them - on a Carolina rig.

  6. 7" Laminate Lizard (13 series)
Now get the same great 7" Lizard in our top Laminate Senko colors 900, 901 and 904. New laminate color 919 is designed especially for our Laminate Lizard and Laminate Craw.

YAMAMOTO WORMS

When there is no substitute for the old standby Texas-rigged worm, Yamamoto's excellent line of four, six and eight inch worms are here to serve you.

  1. 4" Worm (4 series)
The four inch worm is Yamamoto's smallest worm for light rig presentations.

  2. 6" Worm (6 series)
The six inch worm is Yamamoto's most popular size. With it's blunt head design, a screw-in sinker keeps worm and weight together as one unit to work its way through even the smallest spaces in dense weed canopies, reaching otherwise untouchable bass below.

  3. 8" Worm (8 series)
The eight inch worm has the beef needed for big rig presentations. It's also great for worming nocturnal lunkers under moonlit skies.

YAMAMOTO IKAS

When a tube is not a tube?…It’s an Ika! Yamamoto made a bold step in non-tube technology with the introduction of the Ika. The Ika body is strong and solid, with long, perfect tentacles that collapse at retrieve speed, and flare alluringly at rest – built-in tail action with the dense, salt-laden body that made Yamamoto baits the favorite of tournament pros from coast to coast. You owe it to yourself to try the Ika product line. You'll truly appreciate why they're different from tubes.

  1. 3" Tiny Ika (92T series)
In intense dropshot competition where highly-pressured fish are the norm, skillful precision with delicate gear is taken for granted, and the 3" 92T-series Tiny Ika is the latest refinement for this. It is designed to excel on splitshot or dropshot rigs, and formulated for increased durability to resist the slender body tearing off the hook. Use smaller sizes of Yamamoto's 53-series Crooked Hook, and don't look surprised if the crappie, perch, bluegill and trout take an intense liking to it either. More...

  2. 3" Ika (92 series)
Eureka! It's the 3" 92-series Ika! This pint-sized Ika provides non-stop fun rigged with Yamamoto's 1/8 oz 42-series round head jig. More...

  3. 4" Fat Ika (92F series)
With a 4/0 or 5/0 extra wide gap hook, the 92F Fat Ika weighs about a 1/2 oz, casts well and sinks quickly into the often overlooked 10 to 20 foot zone. As it falls, it has a built-in side to side sashay which is all a bass needs to see some days. Other times, fish may require an underwater "walk-the-dog" action. Just walk the Fat Ika up to the crown of an underwater bush or tree, kill the action and let it sashay down through the limbs. Most bites come on the fall. Another neat trick is to rig the Fat Ika backward so it glides away from you under weed edges and docks. More...

  4. 5" Big Ika (92B series)
Yes, there still are some secrets, and flipping the Big Ika is one of them. Weightless, it's heavy enough to work down through the thickest grass, moss, brush or logjam. Other flipping baits, with a jig or sinker, get buried in the bottom clutter and disappear. But the Big Ika's weightless long body tends to perch atop bottom debris or weeds, at a level above where bass are just not used to seeing a flipped bait. That's what we call fishin' efficiency; less time with the bait hidden in the gunk and more time presented in the strike zone.

YAMAMOTO TUBES

What makes Yamamoto tube baits great? Super-fine salt impregnated in a plastic formula that took years to perfect. Translucent colors that don't cloud. Rubbery rip-resistant walls do not tear easily. Original style tube that made tube fishing famous. Cut differently so tentacles won't stick together. Tails always separate in water. Don't lay over on each other. Long flowing tentacles move with the current. Wide inside diameter hollow core enhances liveliness. Fine-cut tentacles are soft and supple yet durable. Tentacles quiver nervously like real fish fins even when standing still. Twenty tentacles greatly increase surface area of the tail for more vibration and noise as each tentacle wriggles. Erratic spiral action on the fall. Tails stand up and flare out on bottom. Hop it, and it swings unpredictably from side to side as it settles back down. Hesitant, lazy wavering action on a horizontal glide or pendulum fall. Elusive dart and hesitation when jigged. Reacts to every swirl or surge in current. Dropshot, splitshot or jig them on light line for that touch of finesse. Super sight fishing. Texas rig on flipping sticks in the thickest cover. Power fish deep using the latest one ton torpedo tubing tactics. Available in three sizes for all your tubular adventures! That's what makes Yamamoto tube baits great.

  1. 3" Chub Tube (32 series)

  2. 3 1/2" Go-To Tube (33 series)

  3. 4 1/2" Flippin' Tube (34 series)

  4. Insider Head (35I series)
Rig inside a tube to give it a balanced spiraling fall.

  5. Snagfree Tube Weight (35S series)
Rig inside a tube to make it snag free and weedless.

SALTWATER GRUBS AND TRAILERS

Saltwater enthusiasts demanded that Gary Yamamoto produce a saltwater tough grub for gamesters like stripers, bluefish, weakfish, fluke, puppy drum, tarpon, snook, flounder, amberjack, barracuda, speckled trout, redfish, calico bass, sand bass, corvina, sea-run trout and salmon. They all hit hard, but these saltwater tough grubs can take it! They are made with a more durable plastic formulation for increased toughness for saltwater fishing.

Use them alone on saltwater jig heads. Or couple them with 11 series skirts (also made of saltwater tough plastic). Swim them to resemble baitfish or crawl them to represent succulent seafood like shrimp, crabs and sand bugs. Or use them as trailers on your weedless flats spoons!

  1. 5" Double Tail (16T series)
  2. 5" Single Tail (18T series)
  3. 6" Double Tail (12T series)
  4. 6" Single Tail (19T series)
In saltwater or fresh, mix and match these grubs with 11-series jig skirts and our corrosion resistant 44W or 44G jig heads. Use enough jig weight to get some serious paddling action from the tails.

For landlubbers, these saltwater tough grubs excel as freshwater spinnerbait and buzzbait trailers. They are more tear-resistant. With our elongated trailer keeper collar, the tough grub stays firmly in place cast after long cast.

JIG HEADS
  1. Round Head (42 series)
Reach for perfection in a medium/light tackle head for soft plastics. Owner 3/0 Lite Wire hook has Super Needle Point and round bend for instant solid hook penetration with lighter lines.
Available Sizes: 1/16 oz, 1/8 oz, 3/16 oz, 1/4 oz

  2. Hula Grub Head (35 series)
A popular swimming jig style poured on a premium Owner 4/0 Super Needle Point hook which will bend enough (using medium/heavy gear) to pull free of brush and stuff, yet still have the strength needed to re-bend it back into action.
Available Sizes: 1/4 oz, 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz

  3. Football Head (44 series)
For quick, deep vertical descents, the upright 90° eye puts the pull point at a maximum distance from the hook shank, creating a fulcrum effect. A gentle pull should pivot the head on the bottom, depending on the friction between it and the bottom, thereby raising the tail off bottom. Your bait will resemble a crawfish making the defensive raised pincer stance. The two football-shaped ends also rock the jig side-to-side as it drags slowly across hard bottom compositions. Owner 5/0 Super Needle Point penetrates easily, even in deep water.
Available Sizes: 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz, 1 oz

  4. Weedless Jig Head (66 series)
Think of this like an ATV for rugged terrain. In stumps, jams and rock beds where an exposed point jig can't go, this blunt-faced boxing glove style head bounces up over wood. It bangs face-first over sharp chunk rock. Molded with snag-deflecting fibers and a stinging Owner 5/0 Super Needle Point. Wide bite round bend.
Available Sizes: 1/4 oz, 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, 5/8 oz

  5. Flippin' Head (67 series)
Note the extra stiff fiber guard and custom angle of the jig eye, designed by Gary for flipping and pitching in the heaviest, weediest cover using stout gear. Custom Gamakatsu Heavy Wire hook to horse the hogs out. 4/0 on 1/4 oz; 5/0 on others. Corrosion resistant black chrome hook.
Available Sizes: 1/4 oz, 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz, 1 oz

  6. Football Head (44G series)
Tons of fame and fortunes have been made with these "one ton" jigs. Gary's custom 35° bend puts the line tie a minimum distance from and more straight in line with the hook shank. With a minimal tendency to pivot or rotate, the 35° hook moves more directly back into optimum hook-setting position when inhaled, and moves more directly forward as you powerset the hook. With the heavy lead mass below the hook shank, the vital hook path area (from the roof of the mouth forward) remains clear. And surface-rocketing bass are not able to shake off the 44G as easily as other heavy jigs. Exclusive Gamakatsu 4/0 Heavy Wire 35° hook. Corrosion resistant black chrome hook.
    Available Sizes: 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz), 3/4 oz, 1 oz, 1 1/2 oz

  7. Football Head (44W series)
Same as 44G except upgraded with a wire guard for heavy-duty snag protection. Can be easily bent to your preference.
Available Sizes: 3/8 oz, 1/2 oz, 3/4 oz, 1 oz
